Marta Tienda

President

Marta Tienda is Maurice P. During Professor in Demographic Studies, Professor of Sociology, Emerita, and Public Affairs at Princeton University. At Princeton, she directed the Office of Population Research from 1997 until 2002 and was co-founding director of the university’s Latino Studies program from 2009 to 2018.

Dr. Tienda has also held appointments at the University of Chicago, where she served as Chair of Sociology; the University of Wisconsin; and Stanford University (as visiting professor).

Tom Kecskemethy

Executive Director

Tom came to the AAPSS from the University of Pennsylvania’s Graduate School of Education, where he was the Assistant Dean and Director of Communications for over a decade.

Tom holds a BA from Penn State and MSEd and EdD degrees in higher education management from Penn. His academic interests include organizational change in higher education and the nature of effective leadership as a collective practice. Prior to his career in higher education, Tom was a surface warfare officer in the United States Navy.

Jessica Erfer

Program Manager

Jessica joined the AAPSS as a Program Manager after ten years in the federal civil service, most recently as a Congressional Analyst for the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. At the AAPSS, she is responsible for event planning, external communications, and other administrative needs.

Jessica holds a BA in political science and philosophy from the University of Pittsburgh and an MA in political science from the University of Massachusetts, and she spent time studying politics at the University of Copenhagen.

Stacy Liu

Communications and Publications Assistant

Stacy originally joined the AAPSS as a proofreader and is now the Communications and Publications Assistant. They coordinate submissions to The ANNALS and manage the AAPSS’s website and newsletter content.

Stacy holds a BA in linguistics from the University of Chicago, and their career background spans a variety of fields, including business-to-business marketing, grassroots and electoral organizing, and fundraising.
