The American Academy of Political and Social Science welcomes proposals for future volumes of The Annals that promote the use of the social sciences to inform public opinion and improve public policy. The Academy seeks proposals with broad, interdisciplinary perspectives on important social issues. Typically, each volume consists of a preface/introduction and 10-12 articles.

A proposal should include the rationale for the volume and a summary of the issues it would explore. The proposal should also include an overview of the field of research under examination and how the proposed volume would advance that field. It should also include a list of chapters, with a few sentences explaining each chapter’s content, and the names of potential contributing authors for each chapter, with a brief description of how he or she is well-suited to write a contribution on the individual article topic.

If you would be interested in serving as Special Editor of a volume of The Annals, please send a 2-3 page proposal to
