AAPSS Executive Director Tom Kecskemethy recently provided an answer to the question “Why social science?” in the blog series of the same name produced by the Consortium of Social Science Associations (COSSA). In his post, he observed that “the social sciences quietly push us toward an important habit of mind: patience and moderation in our approach to fixing social problems.” Read the full blog post here.

COSSA’s Why Social Science? series presents stories that highlight the impact the social sciences have on our lives, told by diverse voices with important perspectives on why social science is important. COSSA is a 501(c)(6) non-profit organization based in Washington, DC. Its goal is to share the benefits and contributions of federally funded social and behavioral science research with the public and encourage its widespread use for tackling challenges of national importance.
