THE DANIEL PATRICK MOYNIHAN PRIZE

Daniel Patrick Moynihan

OF THE

American Academy of Political and Social Science

The AAPSS invites nominations for the 2010 Daniel Patrick Moynihan Prize. The Moynihan Prize recognizes public officials and scholars who champion the use of informed judgment to improve public policy. The Prize is intended to honor those who, like the late Senator, have promoted the use of sound analysis and social science research in policymaking, while contributing to the civility of public discourse.

Candidates for the Prize are those whose careers have made substantial contributions to the many areas of public policy to which Daniel Patrick Moynihan was deeply committed, including: the alleviation of poverty, the health of populations, the design of the built environment and public works, the improvement of race and ethnic relations, and the conservation of natural resources. They may also include those whose careers have exhibited a dedication to strengthening the use of statistical evidence and quality data in the policy process.

Candidates must be willing to accept the award in person at a ceremony to be held in the spring of 2010.

Nominations may be submitted by completing a nomination form [pdf] and sending it, by November 1, 2009, to

American Academy of Political and Social Science
3814 Walnut Street, Philadelphia, PA 19104
Fax: 215-573-3003
E-Mail: moynihanprize@sas.upenn.edu
