On May 13, 2010, Paula England was inducted as the Frances Perkins Fellow of the Academy at the Newseum in Washington, DC. In inducting her, Heidi Hartmann, AAPSS chair and president of the Institute for Woman’s Policy Research, said, “For much of her 30 year career in sociology, Professor England has focused on one of the great puzzles of modern life—why women earn less than men.
